The year 1992 was when Amanda Bossard began her study of marine biology in Anchorage in Alaska at the University of Alaska Pacific. Bossard started her commercial fishing career in 1999 when she began working on the F/V Sunset. This 65' schooner converted to the role of a salmon tender is operated by Murat Aritan. Aritan has been involved in commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard and Aritan have been married since 1993 and have come together in claiming their share of their industry. Both are advocates of conserving renewable and sustainable sources of seafood.
